among other things she like to use Messenger and Skype, because her children lived so far away. So, her notebook made her days little bit easier and funnier.
I was so astonish when I saw reactions other (younger) people when I told about her. "She is so old, what an earth she do with computer??" "Hmmm, does she surf around XXX-sites all night long *heh-heh*?".
I felt so offend. Why? Because I saw her joy, she was succeed to conquer her fear to use technology.. Something which she thought she wouldn´t never learn to use.
All this new and wonderful technology around us... Is it privilege of young people? I doubt it. We should remember that we will be also senior citizen in the future.

I don´t know, maybe it´s because when you come to the certain age you try to figure out what you had achieve in your life, what your major goals will be in the future.
When my mother died 1996 I had to take care more and more my father and his company because my father was not able to do it himself. His grief was so deep, actually he told me later that he can´t remember my youngest child´s christening day or anything else what happened the following year. Well, it must be hard to lose love of your life after 30 years marriage. My mother was that who kept all things going. She got answer almost every question. I must say that she left me too big boots to wear. What I mean is, even how hard I work or study I never fill her place in the family. But why should I? It took many years to understand that I don´t have to be like my mother. I don´t have to work 15 – 20 hours a day (her working moral was so strict). I don´t have to know everything. It is enough that I am good at things which I am interested in. Things like different fields of computing; open source programs, Linux, programming, etc, etc. Because my grandmother take care of me when I was little my mother had possibility to be concentrated in her work. I almost had a burnout because I tried to do too much; I tried to take care of my family and same time I worked almost 15 hours a day. Then one day I just said to my father that I can´t do it anymore I am too tired, I quit.
Oh, I should have this brake sooner. Before that I didn´t realize how tired I was or how grazy my timetable was. I was always rushing to the next place, worrying homework when I was at work and thinking work when I was at home. Then one morning I didn´t need to rush anywhere I could relax and drink my coffee, finally I got all the time in the world. But how long? Maybe I am one of those restless souls who just have to make plans for a future, learn new things, try to keep going. Well, maybe constant movement keep me tick :)

I have this love/hate relationship to math. I find it very interesting, but hard to learn. I could say that I need lot of time to learn math related subjects. Like my teacher says: " There is no short paths in here, just practice, practice and once more practice."
Uh, I feel so hungry... Maybe I eat something first. If I remember right I got some delicious meat pie in the fridge... mmmmm, meat pie...

I tore myself away from the safe comfort of certainties through my love for truth - and truth rewarded me.
Change your life today. Don't gamble on the future, act now, without delay.
No one is more arrogant toward women, more aggressive or scornful, than the man who is anxious about his virility.
-Simone de Beauvoir-
Sometimes even cats and dogs can be best friends.
Maybe this is good example about toleration and friendship.
In my class I have noticed some levels of misogyny, because there is only 3 women it is so easy to diminish us. Most of men don't even speak to us. It seems to be some kind of "generally known fact" that because we are women we can´t know anything about computers *Excuse me, what did you just say??!!* All this because one male student thinks that women, sexual minorities and foreigners (in this case incomers) are so much lower than him. Other male students don´t say anything that can interpret otherwise... Groups, big or small, always need leaders to show course. But I think this is not right goal. One of us just said that if she must be here alone she couldn´t last a week in these classes. I mentioned about this situation to one of my teachers and he just said:"Unfortunately this is male dominant line of work. But you did know this fact before you start your studies in here, didn´t you?". Well, we have to remember that even teachers are just humans, right?
Well, maybe this is just something about my person... I can be quite a hag if someone keeps molest me long enough. Especially, when my sex and/or orientation are used against me.
Sisters, keep your spirit high!

At the moment I am looking for a job. It feels a really frustrating when you have to write job applications and CVs for a several places, go to the interviews and then become rejected. All people around me say that I am a lucky one, at least I was called in job interviews. Well, they are right... but just now I don't feel like it.
Tomorrow I start all over and keep searching....
Have a nice weekend!

This happened to one of my oldest and dearest friend. First of all she had really hard year. All that time (actually more than a year) she has tried to recover from uterine cancer which is spread in intestines. And when she tough that her life couldn't get worse she was raped few months ago.
Her life is a struggle, every day she have to face her nightmares and try to cope. Her fiancé have no capability to give support to her and now she need him more than ever. I don't mean that he is a bad person, but he just don't think. He just can't understand how rough her life is.
Yesterday she finally had the courage to go out with her friends. That didn't suit to her fiancé he was really angry and offencive. He just shout at her: "do you really want that someone rapes you again?". WHAT!! I just don't get it. She was with her friends in a bar near her home. (BTW, she is not a vamp. She isn't that kind of person who flirts with guys. In her situation no-one would be). When I heard about this incident I could not believe that her fiancé would be heartless brick. Where is his brains? What give him right to say so? Jealousy? This kind of jealousy is sick. It is not his birthright to dominate her and her life. But at the moment she is too weak and depressed to fight back.
Love is a strange thing. In the name of it we are ready to hurt those we care most.
But this incident just makes me so angry!

The Collaborative International Dictionary of English:
geek\geek\ (g=ek), n. 1. A performer in a carnival, often presented as a wild man, who performs grotesguely disgusting acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken or snake.
2. Hence: Any eccentric or strange person; an oddball; an eccentric.
3. An intellectually inclined person, especially one who is interested in scientific or technical subjects; as, a group of geeks wearing pocket protectors;-- originally a deprecatory and contemptuous term, but in the 1990's with the increase in popularity of computers and the frequency of accumulation of great wealth by computer entrepreneurs, it has come to be used with noticeable frequency by technically competent people to refer to themselves, ironically and sometimes proudly.
Wordnet 2.0:
nerd n: an insignificant student who is ridiculed as being affected or studying excessively [syn: swot, grind, wonk, dweep]
Jargon file:
nerd /n./
1. [mainstream slang] Pejorative applied to anyone with an above-average IQ and few gifts at small talk and ordinary social rituals. 2. [jargon] Term of praise applied (in conscious ironic reference to sense 1) to someone who knows what's really important and interesting and doesn't care to be distracted by trivial chatter and silly status games. Compare the two senses of computer geek.
The word itself appears to derive from the lines "And then, just to show them, I'll sail to Ka-Troo / And Bring Back an It-Kutch, a Preep and a Proo, / A Nerkle, a Nerd, and a Seersucker, too!" in the Dr. Seuss book "If I Ran the Zoo" (1950). (The spellings `nurd' and `gnurd' also used to be current at MIT.) How it developed its mainstream meaning is unclear, but sense 1 seems to have entered mass culture in the early 1970s (there are reports that in the mid-1960s it meant roughly "annoying misfit" without the connotation of intelligence).
An IEEE Spectrum article (4/95, page 16) once derived `nerd' in its variant form `knurd' from the word `drunk' backwards, but this bears all the earmarks of a bogus folk etymology.
Hackers developed sense 2 in self-defense perhaps ten years later, and some actually wear "Nerd Pride" buttons, only half as a joke. At MIT one can find not only buttons but (what else?) pocket protectors bearing the slogan and the MIT seal.
Well these are only examples about two little words. Words which we use determine a group of people. Now some one say:"What a BS! What a waste of time!". Maybe it is, but then you have to consider one thing English isn't my mother tongue. So, this is good way to learn English ;)

Hmmm.... I think that our family will celebrate tomorrow because my kids will have 10 weeks summer holiday. All that hard work is over and they can relax for a while.
I will serve coffee (and juice) and baked ice cream.
Oven Baked Ice Cream Bowls
You will need a non-stick cookie sheet and small bowls to form the ice cream bowls.
3/4 C. sugar
1 large egg
2 T. butter, melted and cooled
1 t. vanilla extract
1/4 C. milk
1/2 C. all-purpose flour, sifted
Preheat oven to 300°F. In medium mixing bowl, beat the sugar into the egg until it is thickened and pale yellow. .Beat in the butter, vanilla, and milk. Gently stir in the flour.
Grease a large non-stick cookie sheet and spread 1.5 tablespoons of the batter into a 6 inch circle using a thin, flexible spatula.
Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove each cookie from the sheet and place directly over a clean, inverted bowl.
The cookies will fall around the sides of the bowl and harden as they cool. harden as they cool so work as quickly as you can.

Ingredients:
1 packet/block of tofu
1 red pepper
1 large carrot
A few cabbage leaves
1 level tsp. corriander seeds
Marinade:
3 - 4 cloves garlic
2 cm piece fresh ginger
2 tomatoes or 2 tsp. tomato puree
3 or 4 dessert spoons of soy sauce
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup of orange juice
1/2 tsp. red chilli powder
To prepare marinade, chop tomatoes and ginger finely, crush garlic with a broad knife and mix everything together. Cut tofu into pieces roughly 1 ( 2 ( 5 cm and put into a bowl with the marinade. Leave in the fridge for an hour or so (even overnight) or five minutes if you didn't expect to have to do this. Cut the carrots, peppers and cabbage into thin strips or matchsticks and put to one side. Lift the tofu pieces out of the marinade (don't throw it away) and put them on a plate. Heat a little oil in a heavy frying pan or wok (you really don't need much oil) and heat until the oil is smoking. Add the corriander seeds first and the tofu pieces a few seconds later, then turn the heat down a little. Shove the tofu pieces around gently and cook for about 2 minutes each side until they are starting to brown. Lift the pieces out of the pan and return them to the plate. Turn the heat back up full and throw the vegetables into the pan. Stir fry for 5 minutes then add the marinade and the tofu pieces. Stir gently, cover the pan and turn down the heat. Leave for 5 more minutes and it's ready. Serve with boiled rice or noodles. Noodles are, in my opinion, a better accompaniment and if you use instant ones (but leave out the packet of chemical flavourings) they are extremely easy to prepare while you are cooking the tofu and vegetables.

Woman with Attitude!

I shave my legs,
I sit down to pee
And I can justify
Any shopping spree.
Don't go to a barber,
But a beauty salon
Can get a massage
Without a hard-on
I can balance the checkbook,
Can pump my own gas
Can talk to my friends
About the size of my ass.
My beauty's a masterpiece,
And yes, it takes long.
At least I can admit to others
When I'm wrong.
I don't drive in circles
At any cost,
And I don't have a problem
Admitting I'm lost.
I never forget
An important date
You just gotta deal with it,
I'm usually late
I don't watch movies
With lots of gore
Don't need instant replay
To remember the score.
I won't lose my hair,
I don't get jock itch,
And just cause I'm assertive,
Don't call me a bitch.
Don't say to your friends,
Oh yeah, I can get her
In your dreams, my dear,
I can do better!
Flowers are okay,
But jewelry's best.
Would you look at my face,
Not at my chest!
I don't have a problem
With expressing my feelings
I know when you're lying,
You look at the ceiling.
Don't call me a girl,
A babe or a chick.
I am a WOMAN,
Get it, you prick?!
